Dropping food Deir al-Zor unsuccessful

World February 25, 2016 14:00

- The food drops over the eastern Syrian city of Deir al-Zor are Wednesday to all appearances failed to a large extent. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) reported Thursday that the 21 pallets loaded with food, four are damaged and seven ended up in no man's land between the warring parties. Where the remaining ten have come down, could not be traced.

The town of Deir al-Zor is surrounded by fighters from Islamic State (IS). Lived there before the civil war broke out in 2011, more than 200 000 people.

Sunni extremists of IS are not party to the cease-fire that Russia and the US want to arrange Saturday. They are considered terrorists and Deir al-Zor is also when there is a cease-fire should be assisted from the air.
