Dodenrit Heidelberg motive still unclear

heidelberg - After the deadly journey in the center of Heidelberg affected the German police still in the dark about the motive of the driver. The alleged offender is out of danger but can not yet be answered.

The authorities have no indication that it is a terrorist attack. The suspect is a 35 year old Germans from the Heidelberg region and was not known to the police. The man drove his rental car on Saturday with a crowd of people on the Bismarckplatz. Including a 73-pedestrian was killed, two others were slightly injured.

The motorist arose after Dodenrit off his feet, but he could be quickly surrounded by the alarmed police. Despite the insistence of the officers the man refused to give away his knife. Then the officers decided to shoot the man. The suspect was hit in the abdomen and could then be overpowered.
