geneva - A doctor in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been hospitalized with signs of the deadly and contagious Ebola virus. It would be the first contamination in one of the 'highly unsafe areas' in the east of the country. That is what the World Health Organization (WHO) reports.
'It is the frightening problem we feared,' says deputy WHO director Peter Salama in a comment. The doctor lives in the city of Oicha in the north of the province of Kivu. Also 97 people with whom the doctor has had contact have been identified. They are vaccinated.
