According to the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, Sprotje spent fifteen minutes in the oven. It happened during a party. One of the party people would have saved Sprotje and put them in the shower. A day later, the injured kitten was taken to the vet. The police is investigating the case.

The cat was, according to practice Overleie, saved by a brave bystander from the situation. 'Initially, the veterinarians were afraid that the creature would not survive. But miraculously, the kitten seems to have a chance of recovery.

Sprat was severely injured on one side of the body with 'large open burns'. A large part of the burned skin will, according to the veterinarians, still have to die. The kitten can barely walk through the heavy fire blisters on all four feet. In addition, the animal 'loses a lot of protein and blood from internal bleeding and is therefore much weakened. '

Spratje will need a lot of wound care, infusions, medication and dressing changes for weeks, maybe months. 'We estimate the costs around 500 euros,' writes the practice. In order to be able to pay for the costs of Sprotje's recovery, the veterinary practice has started a crowdfunding campaign since Friday evening.

And for those who do not want to or can not donate digitally, there is a jar for Sprotje at the desk at the practice.

The campaign has already raised more than 8000 euros and the counter is still running. And that while the care will cost about 500 euros. Belgium is massively involved with the abused kitten. The surplus will be transferred to the animal shelter in Zwevegem and possibly to other good targets.
