Demonstrators to Augsburg for AfD Congress

augsburg - Hundreds of people have gathered in the German city of Augsburg where the right-wing populist party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) holds its party congress on Saturday. They demonstrate at the convention center with slogans in which they reject, among other things, Nazi propaganda.

The demonstrators want to go to the city center later, where they join another group of demonstrators. It is expected that the southern German city also fills up with thousands of counter-demonstrators during the course of the day.

The police, who have made preparations for the AfD meeting, have not yet received reports of major incidents. More than 2000 agents have been called to keep order in Augsburg.
