Defensive alliance US and Senegal

dakar - The United States concluded a defensive alliance with Senegal. The agreement facilitates the deployment of US troops in the West African country.

Also strengthens military cooperation to address common threats to cope, said Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye.

Senegal is increasingly the target of attacks by the terrorist organization al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. The agreement does not provide for a permanent military base of the US but there ensures that American soldiers can be deployed rapidly in emergencies such as epidemics, natural disasters terrorist violence.

,, Our shared belief in democracy, security and prosperity is the basis for this alliance, '' US Ambassador James Zumwalt explained. The US used Senegal in 2014 as a base for aid to the victims of the Ebola crisis.
