December Murders trial continues

- The process surrounding the December murders in Suriname continues. That the court martial Thursday decided in the country. In the case are 25 defendants, including the current President Desi Bouterse trial for their alleged involvement in the murder of fifteen prominent Surinamese.

Fifteen opponents of the regime of former army chief Bouterse were tortured at Fort Zeelandia in December 1982 and murdered. The perpetrators are never sentenced and the case is very sensitive in Suriname. Bouterse has always denied any involvement.
