Death sentences in Kuwait for espionage Iran

- Two men found guilty in Kuwait to illegal possession of firearms and spying for Iran on Tuesday sentenced to death. One of the men is an Iranian who has been convicted in absentia.
The death sentences come against the background tensions between the Sunni families ruled Gulf states and Shiite Iran. Kuwait has a large Shiite minority which constitutes an estimated 40 percent of Kuwaitis.
