chennai - Six men were sentenced to death in India for the murder of a man who, according to the perpetrators, was married above his status. The 22-year-old man was slaughtered last year by a group of attackers in Udumalpet in the state of Tamil Nadu.
This happened eight months after he was connected to a 21-year-old woman from a higher caste. The victim was a Dalit while his wife is from Thevar's caste. Among the persons sentenced to death is also the father-in-law of the victim. The wife's parents were fiercely opposed to marriage.
The murder was recorded by a security camera from a store.
