Dead after landslide in Rio slum

rio de janeiro - At a landslide in a suburb of the Brazilian metropolis Rio de Janeiro, at least ten people were killed. On pictures you can see how the ground was beaten away a few meters.

There was also good news: at least eleven people were saved, the news website Globo quoted the fire brigade on Saturday. Nine houses have been destroyed.

The disaster happened in the morning in a slum on the slope of a mountain in the municipality of Niterói in the state of Rio. According to local civil protection, there was already an increased state of alarm in the region as a result of heavy rainfall in recent days.
