Danger American shutdown has not yet passed

washington - The US Congress has not yet voted for new money flows towards public services. The danger of a 'shutdown' from the government is therefore not yet taken.

If there are no temporary or permanent appointments on Friday, many institutions will close the government because they will no longer receive money from Washington. In December last year, a temporary law was also required to keep the financing of government services going. That succeeded then but that emergency law ends Friday.

The House of Representatives agreed on Thursday evening (local time) with the allocation of the money, but in the Senate a large number of Democratic and Republican senators were still against, so there is no required majority of at least sixty senators.

Democrats want commitments for their support in the form of protection against expulsion of the dreamers. These are asylum seekers who came to the US as a child and usually have lived and settled in the country for years. Some Republicans are bothered because they think government spending should be structurally reduced.
