Crocodile drags mother and baby along

kagadi - A mother and her five-month-old baby were tragically killed in an attack by a crocodile in Uganda. The 40-year-old woman with her baby on her arm, water from the lake and had overlooked the crocodile.

Eyewitnesses saw it happen, but were powerless. That is what local media report. The crocodile quickly disappeared with the victims under water. The incident happened on Friday, but has only recently become known. The Albert Lake, which is about 30 kilometers long, lies between Uganda and Congo. The victims were part of a family with four children.

According to local authorities, crocodile attacks are more common when fish stocks in the lakes are low. The animals then shift their hunting area. Recently, a large crocodile was caught in the area that would have caused several victims. The beast is released again in another, more remote area.
