Criticizing remove swastikas Japan

World January 19, 2016 22:14

tokyo - A plan by the Japanese government to have replaced swastikas on maps led to much criticism. The symbol is used to indicate the locations of temples, but the Japanese government fears that foreigners it establish ties with Nazi Germany. Japanese people expressed their anger on Twitter, the BBC reported Tuesday.

The symbol has historical significance for Buddhism and Japanese culture, finding the opponents. That should just learn them as foreigners. If a terrorist hangs a British flag, should Britain therefore only change the flag? asks a Twitterer himself.

The government wants to replace the symbol of a temple-logootje. Also possibly five different map symbols replaced to clarify the cards for foreigners.

The responsible organization has more than a thousand people, including tourists, embassy staff and foreign students, asked for their opinion. A decision must be taken.
