- Leeuwarder councilor Wyb Feddema hears on Tuesday afternoon whether the judge is guilty of the death of a 24-year-old student who rented a house with him and killed a fire in the property.

Our reporter Zander Lamme is present at the verdict. He will give live updates from the court in Leeuwarden from 13.00.

The Public Prosecutor's Office (OM) believes that 64-year-old Feddema has been negligent as a renter and demanded a three-month imprisonment sentence of three months.

According to the court, Feddema is not guilty of the cause of the fire, but has done too little to make the property fireproof. 'The investigative authorities found that the victim should have had at least forty minutes to leave the property in a safe manner. Due to the architectural shortcomings of the property, that time was not available, which shows a causal link between those shortcomings and the death of the victim. ''

The fire at the Cellars in the Friesian capital had a major impact on the inhabitants of the center of the Friesian capital. Many residents lost their house. For a year and a half there was a big hole in the street. Also, the property of Feddema, which itself had a hairdresser's shop on the ground floor, was severely damaged.

Fire was caused by a 39-year-old man in 2014. The fire was created in a gas heater when the man exchanged a gas bottle. The OM demanded six months of cell, but did not appeal to the acquittal.
