Conte accepts government assignment

rome - On Thursday evening, the legal scientist Giuseppe Conte was again tasked, as expected, to form an Italian government with the protest party M5S and the right-wing nationalist Lega as coalition partners.

The intended Prime Minister accepted the mandate of President Giuseppe Conte. He will be sworn in on Friday afternoon with the other members of the populist cabinet.

The parliament still has to agree with the new government. Because Lega and M5S have a majority in both chambers, that is a formality.
