washington - Over 40 members of the US Congress have asked the government for a new entry ban for high-ranking military personnel from Myanmar.
Both Democratic and Republican members of the House of Representatives asked Foreign Minister Rex Tillerson for 'clear sanctions' for violating the human rights of half a million Rohingya, the Islamic minority in the Asian country.
On Monday, it was known that the commander-in-chief and other high-ranking soldiers of the Myanmar army are currently not welcome in the European Union. The EU Foreign Ministers decided that because of the 'out-of-proportion and unacceptable violence' by the security forces of the Asian country against the Islamic Rohingya minority.
More than half a million Rohingya has fled to Bangladesh in recent months.
