Completely staff school sick to bad director

de panne - The entire staff of a Belgian school reported sick in protest against the appointment of a new director.

The seventeen employees do not want to work with Thiéry T. who had threatened staff at previous schools and would be 'absolutely incompetent', writes Het Nieuwsblad.

His first working day lasted only fifteen minutes. In the absence of staff, the building of the Center for Adult Education (CVO) in De Panne immediately closed again.

T. had been a director before, and at that time he was 'a true terrorist', the newspaper quotes employees. There would be nepotism and threat to personnel. He also took decisions every time without consultation with the teachers.

The board in De Panne did not criticize at the time. But the problem seemed to resolve when he married a woman from Belgian Limburg and moved there. But even there he went rolling over the street in a short time. He was fired there during the last Christmas holiday.

T. apparently could claim his old job again and wanted to start again in De Panne.

The staff does not leave it at a one-off illness, they are determined to continue until the director has resigned.

According to the newspaper, T. has previously worked as a director of a school in Moorslede. There he had to leave after complaints from the staff about 'narcissism' and 'absolute incompetence'.

Thiéry T. himself does not want to respond in the newspaper.

The problem is that employees in education in Belgium have a very strong legal position. Once you have been in permanent employment, you can hardly be dismissed, according to the newspaper. The Minister of Education would like to adjust that.
