Church skeptical about 'bleeding' host

World August 24, 2016 10:30

aalst - A Belgian priest claims a host of two hundred years has started to bleed spontaneously in his private chapel in Aalst. The 64-year-old Eric Jacqmin himself speaks of a miracle, but the diocese of Ghent keeps the boat.

The recognition of a miracle requires a long process, says a diocese spokesman told Het Laatste Nieuws.,, It is involved with an independent committee of scientists. For now that is all here does not arise. ''

The host was on July 7 suddenly a red color, according to the priest, the slice of bread had been nine months earlier. According to seven people witnessed the discoloration. The host was in a tin container that has not been opened by the Catholic clergy.

If the supposed miracle attracts many interested parties, the priest is considering moving the wafer to a larger chapel.
