China stresses need for political solution

beijing - China on Friday called for calm after the US missile attack on a Syrian air base. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said he hoped 'relevant parties stay calm, show restraint and not do anything, the tension could increase.'

The latest developments in the civil war in Syria show as Beijing again that a political solution is needed to the conflict. A spokeswoman for the department called on countries in particular to continue to try to reach an agreement.

Iran and Russia, allies of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, have strongly condemned the US action. Moscow takes the attack on the Syrian government forces in violation of international law and has called for an emergency session of the UN Security Council.
