Turnbull now wants all MEPs to determine which nationality they own. If they have waived any secondary nationality, they must provide written evidence.
The constitutional requirement of a single nationality must contain shared loyalties among parliamentarians. Turnbull said earlier that the Supreme Court explains the constitution 'very strictly'. He suggested a possible amendment of the constitution, because more than half of Australia's population is born in another country or has a parent from another country. Adaptation can only be through a referendum.
