hamburg - The German police have arrested a car thief but needed a hot pursuit over nearly 160 kilometers. Police officers saw the man on the A24 at Wöbbelin driving in a car that had been stolen in Hamburg. When they wanted to arrest him, he took off.

With sometimes speeds of 200 kilometers per hour, the man managed to stay out of the hands of the police for a long time, but at Neuruppin, about 160 kilometers away, things went wrong. He lost control of the wheel, scoured for about 100 meters along a crash barrier and then collided with a police car.

The 28-year-old Pool was slightly injured, according to German media Thursday.
