- The Liberal Canadian government wants there to be issued this year between 280,000 and 305,000 new permanent residence permits. That will be a record year, reported the broadcaster CBC Tuesday.

The Immigration Minister, John McCallum, said the government wants to underline the importance of the family by getting more family members to Canada. Immigration policy in 2016 " should bring together families, strengthen the Canadian economy and the humanitarian traditions uphold Canada to refugees and others in need of protection, home, " McCallum said Tuesday in a speech in a suburb of Toronto.
