Campaigners put lignite mine shut

cottbus - Thousands of climate activists from different countries have shut down in the German Lausitz region, south of Berlin, a lignite mine of energy company Vattenfall. Among them are 150 activists from the Netherlands, spokeswoman Ike Teuling Milieudefensie reported Saturday.

The activists blocked roads and railway lines. Also shut down a plant that lignite is excavated. The action Ende Gelände (far and no further ') aims to eliminate all fossil fuels.
