- The US is trying to get African leaders to exert pressure on Burundi to accept man still 5000 peacekeepers.

The US ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, said Saturday at a meeting in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, the African Union, the Government of Burundi to move to reconsider its position. Members of the UN Security Council and the Security Council of the African Union came together there.

In Burundi dominate high tensions between Hutus and Tutsis, the same conflict that led in 1994 to a genocide in neighboring Rwanda. Over the past ten months were according to the UN, at least 439 civilians in ethnic clashes. More than 240 000 people have fled abroad.
