brussels - On the French island of Martinique, the 35-year-old Belgian politician Emilie Eloy was found dead. She was active at the Francophone socialist party PS in Brussels. She would probably stand for election at the next municipal elections. RTL reports that.

The woman was found dead Tuesday by her husband in Martinique. The couple, together with a young child of about seven years since April 1, would stay in an apartment in Le Diamant, on the south side of the island. She would have complained about head and stomach pain.

Given her young age, an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

The 35-year-old Eloy worked for Citydev, the company responsible for the urban development of the Brussels-Capital Region, and was also employed at the STIB (Société des Intercommunaal Transport in Brussels).

The Belgian was an active member of the PS in Brussels. At the municipal elections in October she could possibly be eligible for the party in Sint-Pieters-Woluwe. In the previous national elections she was on the 14th place on the list.

The party has expressed its sympathy to the next of kin. 'Today we are in shock. 'The youth movement of the PS has also responded to the loss. 'She was a mother, a friend and a wonderful woman. We are happy to have counted her as our friend. '
