london - The British government will react 'appropriately' if a foreign state appears to be involved in the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal in Salisbury in England last week. That's what the British finance minister Philip Hammond said.

'This is a police investigation and the evidence will be leading and we have to go where the evidence takes us', Hammond said on BBC television.

'If the investigation shows that a foreign state would be involved, it would of course be very serious and the government will respond appropriately,' he said.

Sergej Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found unconscious on a bench last Sunday. They are probably poisoned with a nerve gas.
