Brenner police clashed with protesters

- The Austrian police on Sunday Brenner clashed with Italian demonstrators. A group of a few hundred people protested against the plans to close the border to stop migrants from Africa and Asia. The situation escalated when the protesters, clad in orange life jackets, were trying to break through the roadblock.

The police used batons and pepper spray to prevent. There were no injuries. One protester was arrested, which the other marchers responded by sitting on the street.

Austria has said sternly to go check on the Brenner. By 1 June, the preparation must be completed before. Italy considers that the plan contravenes EU rules on free movement. The EU has promised to look into the complaint.
