'Border Dispute' Italy- Switzerland

chiasso - Italy has called the Swiss ambassador to account for the sudden night-time closure of three border posts. ANSA news agency reported Wednesday that the Swiss ambassador Giancarlo Kessler emphasized in Rome that the closure of the border crossing is only a test and temporary.

But the Italian government is not satisfied with this. Switzerland is in principle bound by treaties to uphold freedom of movement which guarantees the European Union. The boundaries of the Italians went unannounced closed.

The test with the closure is initiated by the Swiss politician Roberta Pantani from the Italian language Swiss border Canton Ticino. Prior to the closure, there was disagreement between the two countries since Ticino demanding that Italian justice gives information about any crime of people who want to work in the border district.

Last Saturday at 23. 00 am closed the border Novazzano, west of Chiasso, the border post Perdinate south of Chiasso and a small mountain pass between Lake Lugano and Lake Maggiore. The borders are since then to 05. 00 to 23. 00 open and close.
