BN'ers want to press Israel for Gaza

World May 30, 2018 09:30

the hague - Ninety Dutch and 37 Dutch organizations call on the government to put pressure on Israel to end the blockade of the Gaza Strip.

The signatories of the call say that a humanitarian disaster is taking place in Gaza. Due to the blockade there are large shortages of clean water, electricity, healthcare, medicines and other basic needs.

Among the signatories of the call are former ministers Hedy d'Ancona, Laurens-Jan Brinkhorst and Jan Pronk, priest Antoine Bodar and writers Jan Siebelink and Rosita Steenbeek.

The reason for the call is the arrival of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla to the Netherlands. He has left from Scandinavia and wants to sail via Europe to the Gaza Strip. With the action, the Flotilla wants to mobilize support for lifting the blockade.

For security reasons, Israel imposed a blockade for the coastal zone of Gaza eleven years ago.
