- The 83-year-old builder, billionaire society figure Richard 'Mortar' Lugner will be Federal President of Austria. He will run for the elections in April, he said Wednesday at the Austrian news agency APA.

He wants to hold the highest office along with his 26-year-old German woman Cathy. For an official nomination Lugner should see about 6,000 signatures to collect.

The operator includes a large shopping mall is not much chance according to observers. Lugner had already been nominated in 1998 for the post of head of state and gave up nearly 10 percent of the vote. He became the fourth out of five candidates. The current Federal President is the SPĂ– politician Heinz Fischer (77).

In late January Lugner had himself been touted in a video for the highest office of the state. One of his main concerns was to preserve the tradition of military bands in Austria.
