Big fine for smoking in cars

amsterdam - Smoking in a car that also includes children is going to cost enormous fines or even cell punishment.

The Belgian Minister for the Environment Joke Schauvliege wants the sentences to start as of next spring. That is also paying attention to the Dutch driving through Belgium.

Smoking in the presence of minors will result in a prison sentence of between one month and two years and a fine of between 100 and 250,000 euros. Electronic cigarettes are also covered by the ban, De Standaard writes.

The Belgian parliament has been arguing for a while about the introduction of fines and raising the minimum age of smoking. Because the MPs can not agree on the latter, the minister has now submitted the smoking ban as a separate law.
