reykjavik - Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson presented Wednesday the new Icelandic government. The leader of the Independence Party finally managed to form a center-right coalition after three months with the Reform Party and the Party Radiant Future. The Pirate Party, which achieved significant gains in the elections, received no government responsibility.
The government has in parliament a slight majority with 32 of the 63 seats. His first tasks were to organize a referendum on joining the European Union and the reform of monetary policy to stabilize the Icelandic krona.
