Bavarian premier: 200,000 migrants

World January 3, 2016 09:21

- The Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer thinks Germany should allow up to 200,000 immigrants annually. 'From experience I can say that in Germany we have no problem with the influx of 100 000 to 200 000 refugees per year,' said the CSU leader to the newspaper Bild am Sonntag.

The arrival of more asylum seekers, according to Seehofer undesirable. Its Bavarian CSU, the sister party of the CDU of Chancellor Angela Merkel, called for limiting earlier on the number of refugees. Most migrants come from Bavaria in Germany. That led last year to tensions between the Christian Democratic leaders Merkel and Seehofer.

The CSU leader fears that the number of refugees without measures in 2016 will be even higher than last year. He called it an aim to reduce the influx. In the past year, according to the authorities in Bavaria more than a million refugees arrived. In December, an average of four thousand immigrants arrived each day in the state.
