vienna - Austria wants with other neighboring countries of Germany forge an alliance against the German tolplan. The Austrian Transport Minister Jörg Leichtfried wants talks in Brussels beginning of the new year in order to impose a common plan against the toll for passenger cars.
Leichtfried has sent a letter to the EU Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc expressed ignorance about the agreement that the European Commission signed with Germany in early December on the toll. Austria considers the compromise unacceptable and contrary to EU rules. Foreign drivers are disadvantaged because only Germans get through the road tax compensation, said Leichtfried.
Netherlands had already announced through minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen steps to the European court and continues the German tolplan.
