HOUSTON (Reuters)- Astronaut appears to be a particularly popular appeal in the United States. The space agency NASA received no less than 18 300 letters of application for the program which will start in 2017. That killed the record of 8,000 interested parties in 1978, according to NASA in Houston.

Applicants must please have them know if they are elected, because the space agency will only be known in the course of 2017 who are admitted to the program. Until then, NASA has a nice bone to the selection and interviewing candidates. Eight to fourteen lucky to be chosen to receive their training at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

The course opens with two-year study of spacecraft, space walks and practicing teamwork. The other skills that aspiring astronauts have to make your own, includes reading and speaking the Russian language, the language of the Soyuz capsule and part of the ISS.
