Astronaut John Young died

cape canaveral - American astronaut John W. Young, the ninth man on the moon, died at the age of 87. NASA announced his death on Saturday.

Young had one of the longest careers in space travel ever. He made his first flight in 1965, the sixth and last in 1983. In April 1972, Young became the ninth man on the moon. With Charles Duke he first researched a plateau on the moon. They drove almost 27 kilometers with their moon car.

Young participated in the space programs, Gemeni, Apollo and Space Shuttle, of NASA. He retired in 2004.
