Asteroid is shaving past the earth today

tucson - Meteor 2017 YZ4 is shaving past the earth today. The asteroid with a diameter of seven and fifteen meters sucks around us at five o'clock this afternoon with a speed of 34,000 kilometers.

And all that on a 'mere' 220,000 kilometers away. For NASA close enough to speak of a 'near miss', according to English media.

The YZ4 was first spotted by Americans in Tucson Arizona on Christmas Day.

Although it is a relatively small asteroid, an impact on earth would have serious consequences. February 2013 exploded a meteor with a diameter of nineteen meters above Chelyabinsk in Russia. More than a thousand people were then injured; especially by flying glass.

NASA constantly scans around whether meteors are on their way to earth. 1985 was discovered last year. In 2016 there were 1888. The organization expects that there will be no significant impacts of spacecrafts on earth over the next 100 years, writes The Express.
