'Assange closed from the internet in embassy'

- Ecuador has concluded WikiLeaks founder Julian Assanges contact with the outside world from the embassy in London. A spokesperson reports this to the AFP news agency.

Assange fled to the embassy of Ecuador in London about six years ago and is still there. The whistleblower has been given political asylum, but the South American country does not make it a secret to sit down with Assange's situation for diplomatic reasons.

The authorities in Ecuador have previously threatened to deny him access to the internet. In 2016, that was also temporarily the case.
