brussels - Belgian soldiers continue to protect nuclear plants in Doel and Tihange. The Council of Ministers decided to extend the deployment of the army Friday to three months, as the security situation has remained unchanged. The threat level in Belgium is still 3 on a scale of four.

The government decided in March to screw up surveillance at the two nuclear power plants in Belgium, where 140 soldiers were identified. This is actually the responsibility of the federal police, but because the department must do still need to set up soldiers were deployed.

The cost for the extra security will be borne by the operator, energy company Electrabel.
