Armenia welcomes Genocide recognition

yerevan - The South Caucasian republic of Armenia genocide resolution by the German Bundestag welcomed as a valuable contribution to the international debate.

'While Germany and Austria as former allies of the Ottoman Empire acknowledge their share of responsibility, the Turkish authorities continue to deny the irrefutable fact of genocide, '' said Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Thursday.

The Bundestag acknowledges the resolution the massacre of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire as genocide for the first time during the First World War. Turkey, the successor of the Ottoman Empire, rejects this view.
