- A group of in their own words about a hundred armed protesters occupied since Saturday evening the headquarters of a wildlife sanctuary in the US state of Oregon. The group is in conflict with the authorities in the western state about the use of the land. After a protest march in the town of Burns took an armed group moved into the currently empty office of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

The march was against the conviction of two farmers who burned down part of their land in 2012 as a preventive measure against fires. One of the leaders of the protest is Ammon Bundy, who protested violently already successful in 2014 against taking his cattle because he refused to pay grazing tax.

We have no intention to use force, but do have the right to defend ourselves , said Bundy, who called on the government to abide by the rules. We continue if necessary for years, and here call on everyone who agrees with us to also come here.

Authorities have not said how they will react to the occupation.
