- There are dozens of apps that threaten phones with the Android operating system. They try to find out, among other bank details and credit card information of users. There are also applications that can 'hijack' the phone. The attackers demand ransom from the victim user to release the smartphone again.

Palo Alto Networks security guard warns them. There have been found so far, more than twenty of such apps. Which focus primarily on Android users in Russia and Austria. Because the code is regularly updated and improved, it may soon people all around the world threaten , according to Palo Alto.

The malicious apps belong to the same 'family'. Which is named Xbot. It can send people to fake apps from banks, in hopes that unsuspecting customers try to log in. Then the criminals receive their login details for online banking. Xbot also trying to intercept text messages seeking TANs.
