Apple needs to help the FBI with telephone terrorist

World February 17, 2016 08:56

- Apple needs to help investigators from the FBI in cracking the security of the phone Rizwan Syed Farook. That is the terrorist who shot at December 14 people together with his wife and 22 people wounded in the American San Bernardino. A judge ruled Tuesday that should provide the company 'genuine technical assistance.'

The problem is called the federal investigation service for encryption: encrypting data. To find out about the offender, investigators may want to sift through his phone. This, however, can not, because they have not yet been through the security. As they often try, built-in software makes sure that all data is erased.

Technology companies have in recent years just done their best to convince consumers that they are using proper encryption. They wanted to improve their image after information of whistleblower Edward Snowden had revealed that the secret service NSA via rear doors provided software to ease access to communication.

Apple has not yet responded.
