American regulator investigates Facebook

washington - The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) opens an investigation into Facebook, reports Bloomberg news agency on the basis of insiders. The regulator would like to check whether the internet company has violated privacy guidelines.

The reason is a scandal around Cambridge Analytica, which played a role in President Donald Trump's election campaign. The company would have used personal information from tens of millions of Facebook users for personal profiles for the benefit of Trumps campaign.
