Alligator grabs American woman with dog
beaufort - An American woman was seized by an alligator and pulled under water. At that moment the victim (45) was walking her dog, says the police in Beaufort County (South Carolina). She did not survive.
A witness called the police to report the attack. It took place at a lagoon on Hilton Head Island, a popular destination among tourists. The emergency services found the body of the woman later. The authorities have meanwhile killed a nearly 2.5-meter-long alligator who would be responsible for her death. The dog remained unharmed.
Alligators make relatively few human victims in the United States. Research shows that farm animals, wasps, bees and dogs are responsible for significantly more deaths. Two years ago, however, a toddler was killed when he was seized by an alligator at Walt Disney World in Florida.
