- Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba will sell space aboard container ships. Alibaba's purpose entered into an alliance with the major shipowner Maersk.

Trade unions are concerned about possible job losses in the port of Antwerp, reports the Belgian business daily De Tijd.

Alibaba by billionaire Jack Ma tapped directly as the activity from hundreds of Antwerp shipping companies, agents in global shipments. The Chinese group claims directly to mediate between provider and customer, at a fraction of current costs.

This would enable the forwarding companies that provide standard work being priced out of the market, and only provisionally hold existence of specialized agents.

' What do Alibaba with Maersk is a threat, 'said the Antwerp expedition association VEA, as it refers to the similar effect Booking. Com has had for the entire travel industry.
