managua - In the Nicaraguan capital of Managua, eight people died on Saturday when the violence between police and protesters flared up again. Two people died from bullets and a family of six died when their house burned down.

A relative of the family told Reuters that agents set fire to the house because the owner did not want snipers on his roof. According to local media, the other two people died when policemen and government supporters opened fire on demonstrators guarding a roadblock.

Earlier in the day, the government and representatives of the demonstrators reached agreement on an international investigation into violence and to remove blockades. Both parties have announced that they want to talk. More than 170 people have died in the violence.
