- Human rights activists run mainly in Central and South America are losing their lives. In the first eleven months of 2015 156 activists worldwide were killed or died in captivity. More than half of them perished in Latin America, said Front Line Defenders (FLD), an organization in Ireland that keeps track of the numbers.


         By far the most dangerous country in the Americas is Colombia. There were killed last year, 54 human rights activists. Outside America, especially the Philippines in Asia dangerous. There were in 2015 31 activists have been killed, according to FLD.
Activists are threatened everywhere but in Latin America, often involving extreme violence. Front Line Defenders makes special mention of the brutal actions of the police in several countries in Latin America.
