Actions European federations against steel fusion

- European trade unions are jointly taking action against the impending steel fusion of activities by ThyssenKrupp and Tata Steel.

That confirmed trade union FNV after reporting by the Financieele Dagblad. Metal associations from the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Spain have made agreements about this in Brussels.

The unions hope to move the management of the companies to abandon the merger. The German metal federation IG Metall presented ThyssenKrupp with an ultimatum. Before December 22 there must be clarity about the preservation of jobs, otherwise he will do everything to stop the merger. Also in IJmuiden, actions are on the roll this month.

The announcement of the merger referred to the deletion of thousands of jobs spread over all parts of the future combination. According to FNV, unions in all countries are poorly informed, among other things.
