Abomination in slaughterhouse: cattle pumped full of water to increase slaughter weight

beijing - The Chinese police arrested 29 suspects after a fuss about the practices of a slaughterhouse. That pumped cattle full of water to increase the slaughter weight of the animals, reports state media. It is unclear exactly what the suspects are charged with.

An undercover journalist had made images of cattle in the slaughterhouse, which was much cheaper than the competition. The company was found to be slowly pumping water through tubes in their nostrils. That process took hours. The cattle were then slaughtered for sale in the nearby city of Nanjing.
